Pet sterilization law toughest in nation

LOS ANGELES - Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Tuesday signed one of the nation's toughest laws on pet sterilization, requiring most dogs and cats to be spayed or neutered by the time they are 4 months old.

The ordinance is aimed at reducing and eventually eliminating the thousands of euthanizations conducted in Los Angeles' animal shelters every year.

"We will, sooner rather than later, become a no-kill city and this is the greatest step in that direction," Councilman Tony Cardenas said as he held a kitten at a City Hall news conference.

Here are some pictures from Sarah and Jeremy's wedding on Saturday. We had a good time-especially when we were at the reception and I could UN-TUCK!! It was REALLY REALLY REALLY nice to be away from home for so long WITHOUT a single dog, and Jessa didn't have any problems so that's super duper! :)

So my 24 year old niece (shit) is getting married...TOMORROW! (double shit!). And Julie and I are of course going, but it's going to be SUCH A MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS! And that sucks :( We got THREE pieces dry cleaned and OMG! it was over $17. That's just ridiculous! Haven't used one in a long time, but I think I'd remember each piece being $5! We have gotten a little "doggie sitter" - a kid of a friend of my sister- so we can go and not come home to a house, well, let's say messy! :) AND the WORST thing ever is......We (I) have to "tuck" things in...ugh! It will be awful and we will both be SO uncomfortable, but at the end of it all at least there will be alcohol to numb our pain!! :) :) :) Stupid weddings. We can't WAIT for tomorrow to be over!! :)

Spring is sprung - ing!

I just went outside to throw the ball for Reavy and thought I'd take some pictures of the flowers that are popping up! Yay spring! BOO summer! :( Soon, before we know it, it will be HOT AS SHIT again, man Tiffanie- you're fuct! :)

OMG! Cindy's enchiladas!!!

Last night I made some chicken enchiladas that Cindy had given me the recipe for. I'm not sure if I made them EXACTLY the way she said - it was over the phone and I didn't write much down- but MAN oh MAN were they good! :) We have been doing the "menu" thing when we've shopped the last couple of times. We decide what we are having for dinners for two weeks and go shopping for the ingredients and then all we have to do is choose something to have that night. It's pretty cool. So in doing this, we are trying to branch out a little and eat some different things than usual. We have never made chicken enchiladas, and WOW they were super yummy, cheap, and non-complicated! I hate the complicated stuff! :)

Yeah, this was Thursday night...

you know...Valentine's... and I made that rigatoni crap (it WAS really good) And then THIS! No fucking kitchen sink...L O V E L Y! Fuck. So I couldn't fix it thurs. night - the kitchen was a disaster and oh yeah, we don't have a dishwasher (well, a working one anyway). SUPER FANTASTIC! Luckily I was able to get it fixed on Friday...Yay! It's happened probably like three times before this - so it holds for a year or so then whammo! water everywhere! Ugh. But like I said, it's fixed!!! Yay!

Shelter from annoying people cont....

So this past week, monday I think, my sister came over and helped me transplant three big bushes from our back fence into big pots by the side fence. It's AWESOME! The bushes are pretty big as it is, then put them up higher in those big ass pots and they are WELL above the top of the fence...Yay! :) I had transplanted one in probably May last year so this year I knew I wanted to do it sooner, before new growth and stuff. So now there are four big bushes in four gigantor pots and with the other row of 10 bushes that we planted along that side fence...that's going to have to do it!! :) Thank god! And we did the other flower bed with the wood to keep the dogs out of it! :)

STUCK TRACTOR-- A Parkdale man learned that a deer belongs in the woods, but not a John Deere when he buried a Portland farmer's $100,000 dual wheel John Deere 8300 in the woods while attempting to free a truck owned by a relative after a night of drinking and riding the back roads. Jeffrey Smith, 25, of Parkdale borrowed his brother's truck Tuesday, February 5, and around 2 a.m. became stuck in the Overflow Bottoms off Highway 8. Smith took the tractor without permission from Gary Cochran's farm, and buried the tractor in mud on the way back to get the pickup. Ashley County deputies arrested Smith on charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, criminal trespass and second degree criminal mischief. He was released on a citation. After his release, Smith took the initiative in freeing the tractor from the muddy terrain.

So, last night for Valentine's I made this "Ultimate Rigatoni" that we have seen Tyler Florence make, surprisingly - JULIE wanted to make it- There's eggplant in it!
He makes things look really easy on tv- but it was WAY too fucking complicated.....Way too many cook this and take it out, and cook this and take it out and THEN do all this other stuff and THEN put it all back together. Oh, and having to take WHOLE tomatoes and squishing them with your hands is NOT something I want to have to do. The first one I squished went ALL OVER THE PLACE - of course!! :( FUCK that. So I pretty much just took the ingredients and made it the way that I wanted to! I was cursing Tyler the whole time I was making it! Then we ate it. It was sooo AWESOME. So, it looks like I'll be cursing Tyler the next time I make it!! :)

Not a total loss...

We were making lumpia for dinner tonight, but the wrappers were all messed up and didn't work. So instead we fried up strips of the wrappers, put some of the meat mixture on them, and then we drizzled some of the sweet and sour sauce that goes with the lumpia over the top. It was pretty tasty!

Whatever IRS, THAT'S real funny!

Yeah, so I did our taxes yesterday. They want LOTS of money. :( Of course, that probably means AR will want money too! We have State Income Tax here. :( Texas didn't. :)

This is totally going to stop Riley & Aidan's DIGGING!...totally!

Weather first!!

So it's 7:40 pm, it's 75 degrees and feels like 78! The Low tonight is 43. So, when's that gonna happen? I go to bed 10-11ish - is it going to be cold THEN? We both burned up last night, and we had even prepared by taking off TWO blankets! Ugh. We've had the AIR on!! I thought it was fucking Winter, suddenly it's Spring, but tomorrow it's back to Winter? Okie Dokie then! :)




And here are some pictures of what I did today. I got creative. Riley and Aidan are digging and we really don't even care anymore, they tromp through the flowers and well, pretty much, the back yard is for them. BUT...the little patio area underneath the carport is for US, and those two girls (okay, I've seen Reavy do it maybe twice) are digging holes right at the end of the brick pad I had made when we moved in ...and well, THAT'S so not cool! :( Today I tried to fix it by adding more brick to the end of it and at least covering the mess they made. I put some wood up around the jasmine so they'll stay out of there too! Real fancy I know, but it's FREE, and Jules said she liked it so cool then! :)

Easy Lasagna!

Now, after helping Sherry make it, I would NEVER use "easy" or "Lasagna" together...EVER! But, when you make it and you make three other ones that go directly into the freezer - it's really EASY! :) All I had to do was thaw it, put a little more sauce on top, and I added some cheese halfway through cooking...YUM! Holy crap though- look how MESSY it was, but it sure tasted good! Good thing too, because it's REALLY filling, so we will be eating it for lunch, dinner, and possibly lunch! :)

Snow and Chicago!!

Jenny was in Chicago all week and her flight back home yesterday was canceled - bummer :( Hopefully she made it home this morning. Seeing the snow in the city like that REALLY makes me miss Colorado, or even just LIVING somewhere else besides the fucking South! UGH. Cindy gets snow in TN - maybe we'll move there, or Columbus, or something crazy like that! :)
