Watching TV

when I talked to cyn the other day, she was telling me about not liking to spend too much time watching tv because there's so much to do, etc. I TOTALLY get that, and we are among the dwindling group of people that actually READ A BOOK fairly regularly........BUT cindy lives in TN... in the Mtns. and currently it's a whopping 73 feeling like- oh my-74! where we live on the other hand, it's now 93 and it feels like a fucking 101! I'm not doing SHIT outside if it's 101! :)
therefore, jules and I are going to be sitting our happy asses down in front of this AWESOME tv here -thank you thank you thank you Jennny! :) Man oh man, we CANNOT wait until winter!!!! believe it or not, it DOES get pretty chilly here(did you see our wood pile??) and it's G R E A T!! :)

I mean REALLY!

seriously! yesterday julie and I were TRYING to get our dvd in the living room hooked up so the sound comes through the Bose. We knew what a total fucking pain in the ass it was going to be, so we just haven't ever fucked with it! Luckily for me :), my friend cynthia called so jl was left with the brunt of it!! Hooking up tvs to cable boxes to dvds to tuners to tivos......WAY TOO COMPLICATED! you would think that in this "I can take a picture with my PHONE!" world we live in that SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE would come up w/ a fucking easier way to get all this shit connected w/o having a stoke in the process!!!!! :( JFC!!!!!

this is our little patio area underneath the carport. we fenced off a little section so we could let the dogs directly out of the house and have them be fenced in. we lived w/o it for 8 months or so- it sucked!! the globes are really cool lights from my parents that came from our time in the Philippines.(I was there- but too young to remember anything) the groovy Irish flag came from julie's mom- it also helps w/ our shelter from annoying people! :) the window w/ the ac unit in it is our office- it looks out into the backyard.

Butterfly weed

this is some plant that our neighbor Norma Ray gave us a few years ago. she said it's called butterfly weed or bush. she just dug it up from the side of the road in northern AR where her son has a B&B. she has a big bed of it in her front yard. I should probably get some more and put it in front because it's super sunny there!

This thing ROCKS

we have central ac....but it totally sucks. it's probably 25 years old and I don't think this old house was prepped for having it- I KNOW there's no insulation underneath, probably none in the walls either, and the attic- well, it definitely could use some more! so because of this, we started using window units about two years ago- they are SUPER! :) well, until they die that is. the one in the living room did just that- so we go this new one- and it's awesome! our other ones only go down to 66! this one here....60...NICE!

Jenny's new car

This isn't exactly Jenny's new car, just a pic of a black nissan altima, which is what she got. why did she get a new car you ask? well, because on her way home from visiting us last week, she got in a wreck and totaled her saturn!! except for MAJORLY heinous bruising, re-injuring a knee that was ALMOST better, and just general soreness, she was OKAY! it happened about three hours from here, and since she had four more to get home to houston and was having problems finding a rental car in such a rural town- I went and picked her up and then we drove back to houston. i stayed over the weekend and left on monday. it was a short, unplanned emergency trip, so i didn't have time to try to see anyone :( If jules and I come for t-day or x-mas this year, we'll be sure to get to see some people!!

he's like the awesomest dog ever!

my little Reavy. i was so sad when Avery died(he was MY baby) so we went to a shelter and found ourselves this little boy. we jumbled up Avery's name and came up w/ Reavy. it's so weird how perfect he ended up being, it's like he's Avery, except younger. he is AWESOME, and I love him very much, and he's a daddy's little boy, just like Avery was, so that makes him even awesomer! all pets, though, are little tragedies waiting to happen- sad as it is :( our friend's lisa and charlie just lost TWO of their babies fairly close to one another- and when they are a part of your family, it's just really hard. honestly though, I think that the best thing is getting a new baby. we had really wanted to pare down to 2 dogs instead of 3 after Avery died....well, Avery died in Oct and we got Reavy in Feb- so you see how long that lasted. But I was really sad, and getting Reavy helped me to focus on something else besides Avery. So I guess what I'm saying Lisa is- go get another kitten!! It'll help you not be so sad! :(

Chicken Parmesan

this was our dinner last night. it was my first time making chicken parmesan, and i have to say it was really, REALLY good! :) totally easy too- awesome. now i just have to get up the gumption to make lisa's Eggplant Parmesan- totally yummy- though easy it's NOT! and for those of you who don't know- I do most, ie all of the cooking around here because....a. I like it
b. I have more time than Jl does and well, c. a domestic goddess she is not! :) I'd like to go to culinary school, but i guess we'd have to move to a REAL city for that!

Didn't you know we lived in moderation, arkansas? :) it's not too hard to have some moderation here though as it's DRY! it's kind of a pain to drive so far to get it sometimes- and the whole we're broke ass broke thing contributes too! so I suppose that being poor is actually good for us! now THAT sucks!

Party in C-Town

oh god, Jenny was here last night, and well, needless to say, this pretty much describes how Jenny, Julie and myself felt when we woke up this morning. Unfortunately for Jenny she is on a 7 hour drive home at the moment :( , Julie and I on the other hand are just about to go get back into bed and watch tv. it looks like it's going to rain, and since we feel like total crap- it's a good day to all in bed all day long! sorry jenny!! we LOVE you, thanks for visiting!-we had FUN! :)

why you ask? because Jenny is on her way to come visit us! HOW exciting!! :) She had been in LA. this week for her job, so she decided to come see us while out and about- it was either 4 hours to go home or 4.5 to come see us, and really w/ all that houston traffic on beltway 8 at 5:30, it really would have probably taken her just as long or even longer to get home! We're super excited to see her, especially since we know it's hard for her not to want to get home to her new house(you remember that awesome fridge?) and her little babies, rory & shredder, I mean robbie! :) fortunately robbie won't be shedding anything of Jenny's b/c she sent them to "overnight camp" while she was out of town! :) smart thinking!

Oh, but you pay in other ways

this store is awesome because it is dirt cheap. however, there are some drawbacks... how can I explain it, so you'll REALLY understand? ahh... here it is- going here vs. going to walmart makes walmart look like central market in highland village! does THAT help at all? but, like I said, it's great because you can get a butt load of food for real cheap. granted all we get there is canned, frozen, etc. once you've been you'll see that you'll want to go somewhere else for that "fresh" stuff! we always really dread going here, but you do definitely SAVE A LOT!

Buzz Rite

most of the liquor stores around-and by "around" I mean in the next STATE or county, because it's D R Y where we live(what we're we thinking) have drive thrus. yes, I have seen them before, but they will never stop cracking me up! I suppose here, they think that if someone is having to drive 45-60 min(round trip) for a beer, you shouldn't have to get out of your car! there's another place a little closer than Buzz Rite called.....Willie's Oasis! :) we don't go there a lot though, the lady there is REAL bitchy! So, we'll usually drive a little further to go the place that has the nice people!

um, well that is if by "salvation" you mean a liquor store called Buzz Rite in Strong, AR!! :)

The glue

here is the sign at the main entrance of the GP plant in town. the glue that holds this little town of 6,000 together! all this plant makes is plywood, which we are told is a good thing because things like paper and what not REALLY REALLY smell at some point in the process. in the winter when it's damp, we will get a smell, but it's not horrible. we'd prefer to NOT have it, but we can deal w/ it. there are other towns close by in LA, like bastrop that can absolutely reek some days- i don't know how they do it!

I just love lazy sunday afternoons, though this was really on a saturday because jl works sundays. it's cool because she has fri and sat off instead!
